About
Fatma Said is a PhD student in the Department of Applied Linguistics and Communication at Birkbeck. Her current research looks closely at the notion of the relationship between language and identity. In a broader sense her research interests include bilingualism, multilingualism and plurilingualism and how these relate to identity. The languages she works with are, apart from English, Arabic in most of its varieties looking at the grammar, history and most importantly its sociolinguistic use and status among its speakers.
