Thesis Title: A Plural Interpretation of Full Second-Order Logic
About
I am a PhD student at Birkbeck College in the University of London, funded by an AHRC doctoral award.
My research focuses on the possibility of interpreting second-order logic using the resources of plural quantification. I want to explore, and defend against criticisms in the literature, Boolos' plural interpretation of monadic second-order logic. Additionally, I am exploring the possibility of extending that interpretation to the polyadic case utilising superplurals.
My more general interests are in logic - as well as second-order logic, I am interested in questions around consequence - philosophy of mathematics, and metaphysics (especially the metaphysics of properties).
I originally became interested in philosophy through encountering both political theory and the philosophy of religion. I'd love to look into these again if I ever get the time.
